A new case of Yq microdeletion transmitted from a normal father to two infertile sons.
During the last few years, microdeletions of the long arm of the Y chromosome, involving loci AZFa, AZFb, and AZFc, have been identified as a major cause of infertility, leading to the disruption of genes involved in spermatogenesis. These microdeletions are usually de novo mutations, but in six cases transmission from fertile fathers to infertile sons has been reported. In four cases, the tran...

Loss of the AZFc region due to a human Y-chromosome microdeletion in infertile male patients.
Infertility is a major reproductive health threat; the frequency of male infertility due to Y-chromosome microdeletions is 13-18% in the human population; these microdeletions involve recurrent loss of three non-overlapping regions designated as AZFa, AZFb and AZFc, associated with spermatogenic failure. Several contradictory reports have been published regarding deletion frequency based on seq...
متن کاملTransmission of a Y chromosomal deletion involving the deleted in azoospermia (DAZ) and chromodomain (CDY1) genes from father to son through intracytoplasmic sperm injection: case report.
The transmission of a deleted in azoospermia (DAZ) deletion from a severely oligozoospermic patient to his son following intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) treatment is reported. The case report highlights the fertilizing capacity of spermatozoa carrying Y chromosome deletions in patients treated with ICSI and stresses the importance of genetic counselling in severe male infertility.
متن کاملVertical transmission of the Yq AZFc microdeletion from father to son over two or three generations in infertile Han Chinese families.
This study was carried out to analyze the vertical transmission of Yq AZFc microdeletions from father to son in infertile Han Chinese families to investigate genetic factors and family background affecting fertility status. The peripheral blood of infertile males in 19 Han families was extracted and screened with modified multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Family trees were drawn accord...
